Located in Jonquières, near Orange, and Avignon in the heart of Popes's Provence and northern sunny Vaucluse, the Mas du Clos de l'Escarrat is a lovely old stone restored farm house, of typical Provençal style, which incorporates buildings dating back to the 17 th Century. It has been carefully renovated to preserve its authentic, rustic character and charm, without compromising the need for modern comfort in all the accomodations.
The Mas is surrounded entirely by farmland and is remarkably peaceful and secluded. The owners, Charles and Andrée Barail, both speak excellent English. They occupy the main house, and there are two self-contained studio apartments and two separate, larger two bed roomed apartments available for guests. All four guest apartments have private WC, shower, color TV and kitchen facilities.
Guests are invited to use the splendid swimming-pool, which measures 11 metres by 5 metres, and has a wave machine which allows for swimming against the current. As the pool is purified by bromide, the water is of high quality, and there is no unpleasant smell of chlorine. There is also a pool-house nearby, and sun-chairs, tables and umbrellas for guests to use around the pool and elsewhere in the secluded gardens. Guests are welcome to prepare all their own meals, however, an optional continental breakfast can be provided if preferred. This is served in the terraces, in the rooms or in the dining room of the main house.
